About Timo and LangPrizm

Hi, I'm Timo! I'm German, I live in Czechia, and I build LangPrizm at Strandbyte, a small company in Prague. I speak English, and I'm learning Czech and Spanish, so I know how it feels to be stuck on one word in the middle of a good page.

Before this I worked in IT and in HR, and I'm an alumnus of 42 Prague. When I'm not building something, you'll usually find me taking photos or out in nature.

Why I built it

For me, reading is the best way to learn a language. You pick up words in context, and you're reading something you actually enjoy.

When I went looking for an app to read with, I couldn't find one that supported less mainstream languages and had the features I need. The big one is the base form of a word, its lemma. The word you tap in a text is rarely the one a dictionary lists, so without the base form it's hard to look it up, save it, or recognize it next time. So I built the app I wanted to use, and I hope it helps you too.
